Welcome to the Point

There’s a difference between a bad boy and a boy who’s bad . . . meet Shane Baxter.

Sexy, dark, and dangerous, Bax isn’t just from the wrong side of the tracks, he is the wrong side of the tracks. A criminal, a thug, and a brawler, he’s the master of bad choices, until one such choice landed him in prison for five years. Now Bax is out and looking for answers, and he doesn’t care what he has to do or who he has to hurt to get them. But there’s a new player in the game, and she’s much too innocent, much too soft…and standing directly in his way.

Dovie Pryce knows all about living a hard life and the tough choices that come with it. She’s always tried to be good, tried to help others, and tried not to let the darkness pull her down. But the streets are fighting back, things have gone from bad to worse, and the only person who can help her is the scariest, sexiest, most complicated ex-con The Point has ever produced.

Bax terrifies her, but it doesn’t take Dovie long to realize that some boys are just better when they’re bad.

Kristen’s Review:

”You don’t need anyone to show you how to be good, you’re so much better when you’re bad.”

It took me a few chapters to really start connecting with the story. But once I did I could not put it down. I have enjoyed every book that I have read by Jay Crownover and Better When He’s Bad did not disappoint.

Not your typical romance book…. The Hero in this story “Bax” is bad. He is a criminal and has just been released from a 5 year stint in prison. He is out looking for answers as to why it seems he may have been framed by his best friend and nothing will get in his way. He hits the streets hard seeking answers and finds himself on the door step of Dovie.

Dovie is the younger sister of Bax’s friend Race. Her life is thrust into the world of crime when her brother disappears. She is strong self sufficient and not whiny! I absolutely loved her character despite all the crap she is put through. She is one tough cookie.

This story has mystery, love, steam, crime, action and some lead worthy side characters that I hope to see much more of during this new exciting series by Jay Crownover. So ready for book #2 bring on Race!

A few of my favorite lines/scenes:

“I don’t know how love works, Dovie. I don’t know how to be anything other than this, but I know the only thing that gives me hope is the idea of you and me. I know I’m not the ideal, not the dream guy, but no one will ever fight for you the way I will. I promise you that you will always have the best parts of me I have to give. -Bax”

“I hated to admit it, but he was all sorts of sexy felon. God, what was wrong with me? That kiss had made me stupid.- Dovie”

“I get the feeling that you won’t let me put my hands on you if I put them on someone else. Right now that doesn’t work for me and I want my hands on you as often as you’ll let me put them there. – Bax”

*This story can be read as a standalone and is first in a new series that will highlight a different couple in each book.
